iON the Home Cloud Server Update

iON the Home Cloud Server Update

In May 30, 2020, our Cloud Service experienced an expired server certificate with a few of our servers. This was not a data breach and no information was lost or stolen. However, it did result in most of the iON The Home cameras being unable to communicate with our servers. Our engineering team has put a fix in place and most cameras were able to come back online.

In order to gain back full functionality of the cameras, please do make sure your client applications have been updated to the latest versions. The mobile apps can be updated directly from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, or you can visit https://ionthehome.com.

If your iON The Home camera still has not come back online, you will need to power cycle your camera (pull the USB Power and plug it back in after 5 seconds), in order for the camera to be able to properly communicate with our servers again.

After the camera comes back up, it will have limited functionality for up to 1 hour until it automatically updates its firmware to v20.06.05. If you would rather not wait for this update, you can immediately go into your application and trigger the firmware update manually from the camera settings -> about -> firmware page. After the update, you should regain full functionality of the camera.

If that still does not resolve the issue, you may need to MANUALLY install the update.

This update will resolve MOST issues where you can not connect to the camera from the APP or iON the Home Website.

Step 1 – Download the Required Files for the Update

You will need to download 2 files, VideoCloud Downloader and VideoCloud BIN Update File to perform this update.

This update will only work on a Windows computer running either a 32-bit operating system or a 64-bit operating system such as Windows 7 or Windows 10.   We regret that there is no update application for MAC based computers.

Please download both of these files to the DESKTOP of your computer.
