iON the Home Cloud Server Update

In January 2018, our cloud service provider released a mandatory update.   This update was available autmoatically through the iON the Home APP for a limited time as they were upgrading their platform.   If you did not get the chance or did not own the camera back then, you will need to manually update the camera’s firmware to be able to connect to the iON the Home Cloud Server.

 

Please follow the below step by step instructions to update your iON the Home Cameras to be able to connect to the iON the Home Cloud Service.

 

If you are having trouble connecting to the cameras via the iON the Home APP, we also recommend running the same firmware update which may solve your problem. 

 

Download the Files for the Update

 

Connecting the camera to VideoCloud Downloader

  • Keep your camera unplugged.
  • You will need to connect your camera to your PC in USB Boot mode by holding the Set button on the side of your camera.
  • While holding the Set button, plug the camera into your PC using USB and continue to hold the button for 3 seconds.
  • When you release the button, no light should appear on the front of your camera.


Using VideoCloud Downloader

  • Open the VideoClooud Downloader (VideoCloudDownloader-win64-Qt5-Win7-18.01.12-Setup) application in your desktop.
  • Your camera should show up under VideoCloud Development Boards List.

  • Select the ION firmware by clicking the find button. (The firmware file “IVION_SDK254_O_HPC30_180104_HPC01_PROD_V2” is on your desktop)

  • Click on the Blue Arrow to start the process.
  • After the upgrade is successful, the LED light on the camera should turn on to blue.
  • Power cycle the camera ONLY after you see the message “Waiting to reboot” and the LED light on the camera turns to blue.

  • After you power cycle your camera, you should be able to connect it to your App and the Updated Cloud Servers.

 

How do I know if my iON The Home is powered On?

When the iON The Home is operational, the LED will be a Solid Blue Color if already set-up.

 

Power on the Camera by simply connecting the USB Cable provided. On Start-up, a Purple LED will be shown which will indicate that the camera is preparing itself for use.

 

When completed, the LED should become either:

Blue: This indicates that the Camera is ready for use with the iON The Home app.

Blue/Red: Indicates that the Camera needs to be set-up using the iON the Home app.

 

How do I know if my iON The Home is Powered Off?

Power off the Camera by simply disconnecting it from the power source. The LED on the front of the camera will now become clear and the Camera will not function.

 

Why won’t my iON The Home Power Up?

If you are using the camera for the first time, please use the cable provided to power your camera ensuring that this is fully connected.

 

The Purple LED will turn on indicating that the camera is powering up.

 

 

 

 

What do the LED Lights indicate on my iON The Home?

The iON The Home has 3 different LED Lights which indicate different functions found within the camera. These are either single lights or can be combined in a blinking pattern.

 

Purple LED: Indicates power-up of the device.

Blue/Red Continuously blinking: Indicates that the camera needs to be set-up. Hold the “SET” button on the side to begin set-up.

Blue continuously blinking (Steady):

Camera is ready to be set-up.

Blue continuously blinking (Fast): Camera is still attempting to connect to the Server.

Solid Blue:  Camera has connected to the server and is ready to use.

 

Please Note: iON The Home is only Compatible with the iON The Home app available for iOS and Android mobile Devices.

 

How do I Activate The iON Home’s Wi-Fi Function?

The iON Home works with the iON Home app which is available on both iOS and Android mobile devices.

 

When downloaded, follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the camera with the app.

 

How do I Upgrade my iON The Home’s Firmware?

Please see the top of this page on how to update the firmware to the latest version to connect to the iON the Cloud Server.

 

 

My iON The Home didn’t come with all the accessories stated on the case.

My iON The Home’s LED stays Purple or does not Boot Up Correctly.

If your iON The Home is acting irregularly, you can reset the device by simply inserting a pin into the RESET hole found on the back of the device.

Hold this down for 10-15 seconds to reset the device.

You may need to set-up the camera again once this is performed.

 

 

 

How do I get the iON The Home App for my Mobile Device?

The iON Home camera has an accompanying mobile app which is needed in order to use the device.

For iOS users:

  • Go to the AppStore and search “iON The Home”.
  • You can now download the App and follow this on screen instructions in order to set-up your camera.

For Android Users:

  • Go to the Google Play Store and search “iON The Home”.
  • You can now download the App and follow this on screen instructions in order to set-up your camera.

 

 

My Cameras Picture is fuzzy when using the Live View option?

When Connected to iON The Home App, please ensure your camera is connected to the Home Network in which you have set-up.

  • The camera needs to be constantly connected to a network in order to be used.
  • Please ensure there is no distance greater than 15m between the device and your home network in order for the camera to be connected constantly.
  • If your picture is not clear, you can enter the Settings within the app.
    • Go to “Live Streaming”.
    • Here you can change the Resolution, frame rate and bit rate.
    • Having these at a lower setting will improve streaming quality at a cost to image quality.

 

 

How do I reset my iON The Home?
